Section 01
Overview & How You Accept
League of Brands is a season-based movement competition operated by SportIn.io SRL through the SportIn platform: the mobile apps, the web apps at app.sportin.io and try.sportin.io, and the website at sportin.io. Teams compete in movement-based challenges (steps, distance and activity) tracked through the app and scored on the leaderboard.
This Legal Agreement gathers, in one place and in plain language, everything that applies to you as a member of a participating team: how the competition works, the health declaration you must make, how your personal data is handled, the rules of the app, fair-play conduct, prizes, and the limits of SportIn's responsibility. It reflects SportIn's full terms (version 3.0, 2026), including its Privacy Policy, End User Licence, Health Disclaimer, Prize Policy and Acceptable Use Policy.
There is nothing to sign
This is not a contract you sign. Before your first competition window, you simply review this agreement and then confirm inside the SportIn app, by ticking the acknowledgment checkbox, that you have read and understood it. That in-app confirmation is your acceptance. No signature, stamp or paperwork is required.
1.1 How participation works
- Your team is enrolled in League of Brands and you join it on the SportIn platform as a player.
- Once you are registered, your activity data is tracked during each competition window and counts toward your team's score.
- SportIn operates the platform, runs the competition, displays results, and keeps the platform secure.
- Taking part is entirely voluntary. You are never required to participate, and you can stop at any time.
1.2 Who can take part
- The minimum age to take part in competition tracking that involves health or location data is 18 years.
- Where national law allows participation from age 16 for online services that do not involve health data, a lower threshold may apply, but no one under 18 may take part in health-data tracking without verified parental or guardian consent.
- The platform is not directed at anyone under 16, and SportIn does not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.
Accepting the Terms & Privacy Policy
By confirming in the app, you also accept SportIn's Terms of Service (
sportin.io/terms) and Privacy Policy (
sportin.io/privacy-policy), which form part of this agreement.
Section 02
Health Disclaimer & Self-Declaration
Important: please read carefully
League of Brands involves sustained physical activity over a competition window of up to 24 hours. Before your first competition, you must read this Health Disclaimer and complete the self-declaration at the end of this section (the in-app checkbox). Participation without completing it is not permitted.
2.1 Nature of the competition
The competition tracks physical movement (steps, distance and GPS-verified activity) over a window of up to 24 hours. You may walk, run, cycle or do other physical activity in any location. There is no minimum or maximum activity requirement; what you do is entirely voluntary and self-directed.
2.2 SportIn is not a medical or health service
SportIn is a technology platform. The platform, the competition and any Movement Index (MI) score are not medical advice, clinical recommendations, coaching programmes or therapeutic services. SportIn does not assess your individual fitness level, medical conditions or physical capacity, and does not replace professional medical advice.
2.3 Your responsibility
- Physical activity carries inherent risks, including, but not limited to, musculoskeletal injury, cardiovascular events, accidents while exercising outdoors (including traffic accidents), dehydration and the worsening of pre-existing conditions.
- You take part entirely at your own risk.
- SportIn is not liable for any injury, illness, accident, death or health consequence arising from or connected with participation, whether or not you completed this declaration.
2.4 Medical clearance recommendation
SportIn strongly recommends you consult a licensed medical professional before taking part if you:
- have a known cardiovascular condition, heart disease or irregular heart rhythm;
- have diabetes, asthma or any chronic respiratory condition;
- have a musculoskeletal injury or have had recent surgery;
- are pregnant or postpartum;
- have not done regular physical activity for more than three months;
- have any other condition that may be affected by sustained physical activity.
This recommendation is advisory rather than mandatory, but SportIn strongly encourages you to follow it.
2.5 Outdoor activity & insurance
- If you exercise outdoors (running, walking, cycling), you do so entirely at your own risk and must follow all traffic laws, safety regulations and local rules. SportIn is not responsible for accidents or incidents in public spaces.
- SportIn does not provide any health, accident or liability insurance. You are advised to ensure you have appropriate personal insurance before taking part.
Mandatory Self-Declaration
What you confirm in the app before your first competition
- I have read and understood this Health Disclaimer in full.
- I am voluntarily choosing to take part in the competition.
- I am physically fit for sustained physical activity, or a medical professional has confirmed I may take part.
- I have no known medical condition that would make up to 24 hours of self-directed physical activity unsafe for me, or I have taken appropriate professional advice about my condition.
- I accept full personal responsibility for any health event, injury, accident or adverse outcome before, during or after my participation.
- I understand SportIn is a technology platform, not a medical or health service, and does not assess my individual fitness or medical suitability.
- I understand that data from my wearable or phone may not always perfectly reflect my activity, and I accept competition results based on the recorded data.
- I am 18 or older, or I have provided verified parental/guardian consent if I am 16-17 in a jurisdiction that permits it.
Section 03

- Does not make automated decisions about you that produce legal or similarly significant effects.
- Does not use your data for anything beyond operating the platform and the competition.
3.3 Who receives your data
- Cloud infrastructure providers: acting as processors under a data processing agreement, with data stored inside the EEA.
- Third-party integrations (such as Spike): only to relay your activity data to the platform, under their own terms.
- Your team: only anonymised, aggregate team statistics, unless you explicitly consent to share your individual results.

Personal data is not transferred outside the EEA.
3.4 Your rights (GDPR Articles 15-22)
- Access: get a copy of your data.

- Legal exception: limited pseudonymised records may be kept for up to 36 months where Romanian fiscal or commercial law requires it.
- Inactive accounts: if an account is not accessed for 12 continuous months, SportIn emails you at least 30 days before deletion. If you do not log in or respond within that 30-day window, the account and its data are permanently deleted. Log in at least once every 12 months to keep your account.
3.6 Security, cookies & changes
- Encryption in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest (AES-256); passwords hashed (bcrypt/Argon2) and never stored in plaintext; role-based access with least privilege; regular security assessments; data hosted in the EEA.
- Only strictly necessary cookies are used (session, authentication, security). No advertising or tracking cookies.
- You will be notified of material changes by email or in-app at least 14 days before they take effect. Where consent is the legal basis, a new consent record is taken.
Section 04
Using the App
4.1 Your licence to use the app
SportIn grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to install and use the SportIn application (iOS and/or Android) and the web app, solely to take part in the competition and related platform features. This licence does not let you sublicence, sell, resell, transfer, assign or commercially exploit the platform or any part of it.
4.2 What you may not do
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble or try to derive the source code of the platform.
- Modify, adapt or create derivative works.
- Remove, obscure or alter any proprietary rights notices.
- Use the platform for any unlawful purpose.
- Access the platform by any means other than the interface SportIn provides.
- Use automated tools, bots, scrapers or scripts to access or interact with the platform.
4.3 Third-party integrations & devices
The platform connects to third-party services such as Spike, Apple HealthKit, Google Fit and wearable device SDKs. Your use of these is subject to those providers' own terms and privacy policies. SportIn makes no warranty about their availability, accuracy or performance, and data relayed through them may be subject to delays, gaps or errors outside SportIn's control.
4.4 Updates & when your access ends
- SportIn may update, modify or discontinue the platform or any part of it at any time. Continuing to use it after an update means you accept the updated platform. SportIn aims to give 14 days' notice of material changes to data processing.
- Your licence ends automatically if your team's participation ends, if you are removed, disqualified or banned, or if you delete your account. When it ends, you must stop using the platform.
Section 05
Fair Play & Acceptable Use
5.1 Prohibited conduct
To keep the competition fair for everyone, you must not:
- Create fake accounts, impersonate others or fabricate activity data.
- Use bots, automation, GPS spoofing, treadmill manipulation or any method to artificially inflate your metrics.
- Share your account credentials or allow unauthorised access.
- Post hateful, discriminatory, sexually explicit or unlawful content.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile or scrape the platform.
- Use the platform for unauthorised commercial purposes.
- Interfere with the platform's security, integrity or availability.
- Try to access other people's accounts or restricted areas.
- Publish, distribute or commercially exploit the individual results or step counts of other players without their consent.
5.2 Anti-cheating
SafeGuard AI
SportIn runs SafeGuard AI, an automated monitoring system. Suspicious activity may trigger a review and action. Manually entered steps and simulated movement are detected and excluded.
5.3 Consequences & appeals
- Breaking these rules may lead to a warning, temporary suspension, disqualification and forfeiture of prizes, permanent termination, or referral to legal authorities.
- SportIn gives notice where practical, except where immediate action is needed for safety, legal or integrity reasons.
- Appeals: you may appeal a disqualification decision to hello@sportin.io within 14 days. Appeals are reviewed within 30 days, and SportIn's decision on appeal is final.
- Decisions taken under SportIn's discretionary rights over the competition (Section 09) are not subject to appeal.
- Report any violations confidentially to hello@sportin.io.
Section 06
Prizes
No prizes by default
A competition includes prizes only where a separate prize schedule has been agreed in writing. If there is no prize schedule, no prizes are offered, promised or owed. The points below apply only where a prize schedule exists.
6.1 Eligibility
To be eligible for a prize, a winner must:
- be a registered player who took part in the relevant competition;
- have complied with this agreement, the Terms of Service and the fair-play rules throughout;
- not have been disqualified, suspended or banned;
- have completed the Health Self-Declaration before participating;
- provide valid identification and fiscal data if requested.
6.2 Delivery, changes & forfeiture
- Prizes are delivered no earlier than one month and no later than six months after the competition ends. SportIn decides the delivery method and timing within that window.
- Before delivery, SportIn may, at its discretion, cancel a prize, substitute one of comparable or lesser value, or withhold a prize for rule violations or unverified eligibility. No compensation is owed for cancelled or substituted prizes.
- Prizes cannot be exchanged for cash or transferred unless the prize schedule says so.
- Unclaimed prizes (no claim within 30 days of notification, or no fiscal data provided in that time) are forfeited.
6.3 Tax
The winner is responsible for all tax on a prize. Under Romanian fiscal law, prizes over 600 RON are subject to 10% income tax plus applicable social contributions (CASS). SportIn withholds and remits taxes where legally required and issues the appropriate fiscal documents.
Section 07
Platform, Devices & Liability
7.1 The platform is provided “as is”
The platform is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. SportIn does not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or available at any particular time, and does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness or timeliness of competition data. Unless a separate service-level agreement is in place, there are no uptime or response-time commitments.
7.2 Devices & third-party integrations
Outside SportIn's control
SportIn collects activity data sent by your personal devices and wearables through third-party integrations (such as Spike). SportIn does not make, control or warrant any wearable, operating system or integration, and does not guarantee the accuracy or timeliness of data they send. Any loss, gap, delay or corruption of data caused by a device, operating system, firmware, network or integration is outside SportIn's control, and SportIn is not liable for its impact on results, rankings or prize eligibility.
7.3 Support
SportIn provides a human-assisted Support Chat in the app for technical issues with the platform. SportIn aims to respond within 2 business days but makes no binding commitment on response times unless a separate SLA applies. Support does not guarantee resolution of issues arising from third-party devices or integrations, competition decisions, health events, or data discrepancies caused by device firmware or connectivity. The availability of support does not create any right to compensation, refund or rescoring.
7.4 Data issues during a competition
During an active competition window, activity data is processed in real time, and SportIn does not guarantee it can correct or reprocess data while a window is open. Report any data discrepancy, missing-data event or device failure to hello@sportin.io within 48 hours of the window closing. SportIn reviews reported issues at its discretion; scores used for rankings or prize eligibility may not be changed retroactively. Not reporting within 48 hours counts as acceptance of the recorded results.
7.5 Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, SportIn is not responsible for, among other things:
- decisions taken under its discretionary rights over the competition;
- cancellation, change or non-delivery of prizes;
- platform downtime, errors or data inaccuracies;
- data loss or corruption caused by third-party integrations or wearables;
- the actions or conduct of other players or third parties;
- physical injury, illness, accident or health consequences from participation, whether or not the Health Self-Declaration was completed;
- tax consequences arising from prizes or participation.
Nothing in this agreement limits any liability that cannot be excluded under mandatory EU or Romanian law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Section 08
Brands, Teams & Brand Representation
League of Brands lets organisations and their communities compete under a brand name. A team carrying a brand name can be created and registered in more than one way: by the brand itself, by a partner, distributor or agency that sells or represents the brand, or by a community of fans and supporters of that brand. Because a brand can enter the competition through any of these routes, the appearance of a brand on the platform does not, on its own, mean the brand owner is officially involved.
Not the brand's official position
If a brand appears on the SportIn website, in the app, on a leaderboard or on a team, it means that people registered that brand to compete: a brand owner, a partner who represents it, or its fans. Unless the brand name carries a verification check mark, its appearance is not the official position, statement, endorsement or sponsorship of the brand or its owner.
8.1 How a brand team can be created
A team may carry a brand name when it is registered by any of the following:
- the brand's own authorised representatives;
- a partner, distributor, reseller or agency that sells or represents the brand and works with SportIn;
- a community of fans or supporters who set up a team in support of a brand they like.
A brand team reflects the choice of the people who registered it. It should not be read as the official position, communication or endorsement of the brand or its owner.
8.2 Verified brands: the check mark
- Where a brand has been registered or confirmed by the brand's authorised officials, SportIn displays a verification check mark after the team or brand name, for example, Porsche✓.
- The check mark is the only signal of official brand involvement. A brand or team name shown without the check mark has been created by a partner, a representative or a fan community, and has not been officially confirmed by the brand owner.
- SportIn may grant, withhold or remove the check mark at its sole discretion, including after verifying or re-verifying a request.
8.3 Trademarks & your responsibility
- All third-party brand names, logos and trademarks remain the property of their respective owners. They appear on the platform only to identify the team that registered them; SportIn claims no ownership of, or affiliation with, those brands.
- Anyone who registers a team under a brand name represents and warrants that they are entitled to use that name for this purpose, or are using it in a lawful, descriptive manner, and that doing so does not infringe the rights of any third party.
- The person, organisation or community that registers a brand team is solely responsible for that choice and shall indemnify and hold SportIn harmless against any claim, loss or cost arising from the brand name, logo, colours or content they submitted (this complements the intellectual-property terms in Section 09).
- SportIn does not pre-screen brand registrations, does not guarantee any user's right to use a brand name, and is not responsible for team names, logos or brand content submitted by users.
8.4 Brand owners: verification & removal
A brand owner, or an authorised representative, can ask to verify, claim or remove a team that carries its brand, or report a brand used without authorisation, by contacting hello@sportin.io. On receiving a valid request, SportIn will review it and may verify the team (add the check mark), transfer it, rename it or remove it, at its discretion and in line with applicable law.
Section 09
Competition Decisions & Governing Terms
9.1 SportIn's discretionary rights
As the organiser, SportIn may, at its sole discretion and with or without prior notice:
- modify, suspend, postpone, shorten, extend or cancel any competition, event, round, challenge or schedule;
- change the format, rules, scoring method or ranking criteria;
- remove, disqualify, suspend or ban any player or team from the competition;
- modify, correct, reset or delete competition data, including scores, rankings, leaderboards and statistics;
- add, remove or modify any feature or content of the platform;
- limit or restrict access for operational, technical, legal, safety or commercial reasons.
SportIn is not required to give reasons for these decisions, and they are final and not subject to appeal (except as set out for disqualifications in Section 05).
9.2 Intellectual property
- The platform, the SportIn and League of Brands brands, the competition format, scoring algorithms and the Movement Index remain the exclusive property of SportIn.io SRL.
- Your team keeps all rights to its own brand and logo. By posting content to the platform, you grant SportIn a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use and display that content in connection with the platform.
9.3 Governing law & changes
- This agreement is governed by the laws of Romania. Disputes are first submitted to good-faith negotiation for 30 days; if unresolved, to the courts of Bucharest, Romania, subject to any mandatory consumer protection rights in your jurisdiction.
- EU consumers may also use the European Commission's ODR platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
- SportIn may amend this agreement with reasonable notice before changes take effect.
